(Telecompaper) Dixons Carphone confirmed that the IT systems of a UK division of Carphone Warehouse have been breached by a major cyber attack. This division operates the Mobiles.co.uk, e2save.com and OneStopPhoneShop.com websites. It also provides a number of services to iD Mobile, TalkTalk Mobile, Talk Mobile and to certain customers of Carphone Warehouse. Dixons Carphone has implemented additional security measures and opened an investigation with a cyber security company to determine exactly what was affected. Initial investigations indicate that hackers may have access personal data including name, address, date of birth and bank details of up to 2.4 million customers. In addition, the encrypted credit card data of up to 90,000 customers may also have been accessed.
