The Challenge: A small biotech company contracted Patheon to supply their clinical trial product, which was aseptically filled into 2 ml vials. The product was an orphan drug targeted for a niche patient population. Although this was truly a lifesaving treatment, the company struggled to find a CMO willing to commercialize the product because of the relatively low annual commercial volumes.
