BusinessGreen: China has placed an $8bn order for 60 planes from Airbus, the first such deal agreed since the EU suspended foreign airlines from inclusion in its emissions trading scheme.
The order consists of 42 A320 aircraft and 18 A330 wide-body passenger jets and concludes a saga that saw Beijing reportedly freeze all purchases in protest against the original regulations, which would have forced its airlines to pay for carbon emitted during flights in and out of EU airports.
