Chiquita ready to start layoffs as it leaves Charlotte HQ

Chiquita Brands International is speeding up its timetable for shutting down its Charlotte headquarters after the banana producer's buyout by a Brazilian juice company and a Brazilian billionaire's investment firm. The Charlotte Observer reports that Chiquita's notice of impending mass layoffs says the hundreds of well-paying headquarters jobs will be gone by the end of this year.
