Ciena strikes $400M deal for California networker Cyan

Ciena Corp. plans to buy a Petaluma, Calif.-based company in a $400 million deal, it announced Monday, scooping up a smaller public corporation as it seeks to get ahead of shifts in the computer networking industry. Ciena , the Hanover-based networking company, will acquire hardware and software maker Cyan Inc. in a cash and stock deal.
