(Telecompaper) Cisco reported net sales up 5.4 percent to USD 12.2 billion in its fiscal third quarter to 27 April, compared to USD 11.6 billion in the year-earlier period. The company's operating income rose to USD 2.94 billion, or 28.2 percent of revenue, from USD 2.75 billion, or 28.6 percent, in the previous third quarter. Net profit came in at USD 2.48 billion, compared to USD 2.17 billion a year earlier. EPS increased to USD 0.46 from USD 0.40. Chairman and CEO John Chambers said the company saw encouraging signs in the US and other parts of the world and was well positioned to meet the increased pace of change.
