PITTSFIELD >> Yet another severe blow to the Berkshire economy - that's the only way to describe confirmation on Thursday of what many employees of Saudi Basic Industries Corp. have been talking about for many weeks. The announcement that Sabic Innovative Plastics, majority-owned by the Saudi government, is leaving Pittsfield as part of its 10-year global strategy came as a shock, even though speculation has been swirling about the plan to relocate the North American headquarters to its company-owned facilities in Houston.
