Perth-based conglomerate Wesfarmers continues to take market share from arch-rival Woolworths, lifting retail sales by a higher-than-expected 3.3 per cent to $13.12 billion in the three months ended March as strong sales growth at Bunnings, Kmart, Coles and Officeworks offset weakness in liquor stores, petrol stations and Target. Wesfarmers managing director Richard Goyder described the retail sales growth, which exceeded market forecasts of 2.5 per cent, as pleasing.
