EU - Animal welfare groups have attacked the European Commission president over animal welfare policies. According to them, a letter from José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, suggests a degree of contempt for those many EU citizens who are concerned about animal welfare as well as for the requirements of the Treaty in this area and the rule of law.
