Blockchain technology could transform trade financing, share trading and many other parts of banking and the broader economy, says the chief information officer of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, David Whiteing. Opening a two-day blockchain workshop on Thursday, Mr Whiteing said CBA had been thinking about the concept for two years and had determined it "presents a very exciting set of opportunities and protocols for how we might think about the business going forward".
