EUMETSAT is the European satellite agency for monitoring weather and climate. Bringing together the resources of 30 member states, we develop and operate a range of satellite systems surveying the atmosphere, land and ocean that deliver vital data 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our data contribute to weather forecasts that protect lives and property across Europe and to monitoring of our changing climate. From 2016 onwards, EUMETSAT will also operate the Copernicus Sentinel 3,4,5 and 6 missions on behalf of the European Union and provide data and services to the Copernicus marine and atmospheric services and their users. Competence Area Manager Ground Segment System Engineering REF. VN1534 Within our System Engineering and Projects Division, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of around 20 engineers and manage industrial contracts to maintain and continuously evolve our operational ground segments and their functions and applications. Your role will be to deliver core system engineering support across the organisation, whilst maintaining industrial and technological awareness and representing us at standardisation bodies and fora. Qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline, you will bring solid experience of ground segment systems engineering design, development, testing, maintenance and evolution, preferably within the field of Earth Observation. This will have given you demonstrable ability to lead and develop teams, interface with stakeholders and industrial partners, and apply formal standards and methods for system specification. Further, you will be capable of overseeing relevant engineering processes. Finally, you must be fluent in English and have a knowledge of French.
