For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Configuration Documentation Management Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks The Configuration Management and Documentation Management Engineer shall perform Configuration Management and Documentation Management tasks in support to the Copernicus Programme and Service Management Office and to the Copernicusrelated missions, at first Sentinel3 and Jason3 and at a later stage Sentinel4, SentinelS and JasonCS Sentinel6 covering the routine operations phase, including the associated operations buildup phase. SheHe shall perform following main tasks Implement the applicable Configuration Management and Documentation Management plans, processes and working practices, Regularly review and propose improvements on those documents Identify all relevant configuration items software, hardware and documents to be managed during Copernicus routine operations, register those items in the CM and DM databases as appropriate, tracking any new version Ensure that all incoming and outgoing Copernicus documentation is managed according to applicable working practices, including storing and registering in the Documentation Management database and timely releasingdistributing to relevant recipients Control all changes impacting identified configuration items through all defined staged lifecycle steps, in particular ensure that any new item version is deployed only after the formal review and approval of the related change Administrate as required the Anomaly and Change Control Boards regularly organised to review and approve anomaly correction and changes to configuration baselines Monitor and control the hardware and software installation activities, and the deployment of satellite, system or ground segments operational documentation procedures into the relevant controlled areas Keep up to date the mapping between changes including anomalies and software, hardware and document items, together with the mapping between software and hardware items Liaise, coordinate and organise with external operations partners the joint configuration and documentation when and where relevant On demand, develop reporting or monitoring tools to help controlling the consistency and accuracy of the CM and DM databases. Timely prepare and present Configuration Status Accounting Reports and documentation reports, as necessary Contribute to the detailed specification of CM or DM tool improvements, and participate to the testing of related new releases Perform configuration and documentation inspections or audits, as planned and whenever requested Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree in Computer Science, the key person shall have a minimum of five years experience in the specific field of Configuration Management, including build, deployment and installation processes on large softwareintensive high availability operational systems. The following mandatory skills are required Configuration and Documentation Management standards e.g. CMMI, ISO or ECSS Configuration Management tools as administrator or advanced user e.g. Serena Dimensions, Clearcase ... Documentation Management tools as advanced user e.g. Oracle UCM Databases programmingSQL Oracle or Sybase Scripting languages e.g. Python, Perl, Javascript or vb.net And more generally with software development processes and methodologies. Demonstrated very good communication and team working skills Able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, in particular when applying the applicable Documentation and Configuration Management standards and providing support to a wide range of users Able to work calmly under stress with the minimum of supervision. Desirable requirements Practical experience with source code control tools CVS, Subversion ... and with Software development environments on UNIX will be considered as assets. Other Information Start date is 1st September 2015. Fluency in English is mandatory. The candidate must have a valid German work and residence permit or be an EU Citizen.
