In addition, we are an Air Navigation Service Provider. Inside of the GalileoProject we offer the following career option Constellation Shift Lead Your Mission One of the main tasks of the DLR GfR mbH is to operate and manage the constellation of Galileo satellites from the Galileo Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. For the performance of tasks within the Galileo shift operations team we are looking for a Constellation Shift Lead. Tasks and Responsibilities Operate on a 247 shift basis all part of the mission control system, which includes parts of the ground and mission segment as well as the space segment Assist in configuring and testing the operational system to support the operations. The successful candidate may be required to support development of methods or tools to assist in the execution of the operations Onconsole involvement in System Validation Tests SVT, simulations and Launch and Early Orbits Phase LEOP operations authorised by the Spacecraft Operations Manager, following established rules, procedures and practices, and where applicable in accordance with the ECSS standards In case of ground or space segment anomaly be responsible for first line support to taking corrective action, as necessary, applying the relevant contingencyemergency procedures approved for the mission to ensure safety of the spacecraft and the continuity of service provision Be responsible for informing the Spacecraft Operations Manager andor the official deputy when a major or critical anomaly is detected, in accordance with the established procedures Participate to other operationsrelated activities small system development, procedures development or maintenance, etc upon request from the Team Leader Support of the control center in Fucino, Italy Additional tasks within the scope of the role, qualifications and experience of the candidate. Necessary Skills Applicants should have a solid technical background and preferably a degree at BSc or MSc level in a related subject such as IT, Telecommunications, Physics or another scientific discipline, etc. The successful candidate will have ideally 4 or more years of experience in an Operations environment preferably with experience working directly with spacecraftsatellites. Experience working with computer systems and PC literacy is required. Knowledge of databases i.e. Oracle, MySQL, Access and Java XML would be considered as advantageous. Candidates should be methodical, disciplined and have a mind for efficiency as the appointed person should feel comfortable in a strictly proceduredriven critical operations environment where procedures must be carried out to the letter. Due to the operational nature of the job, candidates shall be able to work in a calm and correct manner under conditions of stress and in almost full autonomy e.g. during night shifts. As the successful candidate will be part of an Operation Team working on a 247 shift rotation pattern, team spirit and teamplayer attitude are also essential to be able to adapt to the sometimes unavoidable shortterm changes to the shift plan resulting from sickness or other exceptional circumstance, with the purpose of avoiding any service disruption and ensuring the satellite health and safety above all. As official, recorded communications via voiceloop between stationscentres is part of the job, fluent and clearly spoken English is a mandatory requirement.
