It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year.A vacancy for a Cost Engineer has arisen with Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage.The successful applicant will be responsible for the cost estimation of proposals and future projectsYou will support the company in the area of Business Acquisition i.e. order book value increase and provide value added benefit to the overall business development process through the collation and analysis of costprice data, and the development of efficient cost estimating tools and processes.The successful applicant will be part of the ENS Earth Navigation and Science Business Development directorate of Airbus Defence and Space within the Cost Engineering CE team.The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Working with proposal project teams, estimating in proposal and study phase the cost and price of future projects. Coordinating the costing process and subsequent cost reviews until final validation by management Preparing the costing assumptions schedule, Work breakdown structure, technical and financial aspects before starting the costing exercise Participating to the Should Cost estimate providing an independent assessment of the costs parametric analogy methods and define cost targets Coordinating the analytic cost estimate with internal technical team and procurement team for suppliers Identifying and implementing areas for cost reduction opportunities. Contributing to Design To Cost Make or buy analysis and subcontractors cost analysis Contributing to risk analysis of proposals and define technical and financial provisions for risk Elaborating the price of proposals including internalsuppliers cost consolidation, provision, financial margins and analysis Ensuring the consistency of cost estimates prices with past proposalsprojects Interfacing with customers to ensure delivered data is in accordance with customer requirements Interfacing with Commercial and Legal staff to ensure financial aspects of the proposal are aligned with contractual assumptions Generating the document that defines the cost and price estimate and presentjustify to senior management Representing Airbus Defence and Space in customer discussion on cost aspects of major proposals or study reviews Maintaining good relationships with customer cost engineering and project teams Contributing to transnational improvement initiatives relating to cost engineering common approach, methods, tools, process, database, guidelines, training Promoting and contributing to collaborative work and exchange inside transnational ENS cost engineering team Contributing to cost database record and sharing such as Equipment supply and services to facilitate the development of Parametric cost model and for future benchmark and analysis Contributing to the creation of cost models and cost references for major products and tasks of projects and proposals Contributing to the structuration and analysis of the cost data cost, contingency and prices of proposals and current projects Participating and represent ENS Cost engineering at external liaison meetings ESA, AIRBUS, Parametric, ENS Commercial as necessaryThis role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordinglyWe are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Educated to an engineering degree or equivalent would be a plus. Experience within the engineering or manufacturing environment, preferably within the Aerospace industry is mandatory. Experience in the use of software packages such as databases, parametric estimating tools e.g. PRICE, ACES, schedule tools is required. Experience of cost engineering, financial or business development responsibilities within an engineering discipline would be a string asset for the position. Good communication skills are required. Proactive approach to work with a keen focus on problem solving combined with a can do attitude is necessary. Being capable of developing internal relationships and being able to influence project and proposal teams in the structuring and preparation of the projectproposal cost base would be required. Capability of analysis on technical and cost data is mandatory.
