Level 3 Communications Inc. acquired TW Telecom Inc. in October for $5.3 million -- the most notable of several mergers and acquisitions involving Colorado companies in 2014. As Greg Avery reported , Level 3 used its stock and cash to buy TW Telecom, creating a larger domestic business for the international business data and voice company.
