Davenport, county released in suit; sheriff remains defendant

Shown here is the Charles Street building where former Elizabeth City automobile dealer Jonathan Davenport surrendered property more than half a decade ago, in advance of a since-closed criminal investigation against him. The property was returned to Davenport in February 2015, but the building's owners want storage fees for having held the property in the rear of the structure.
