At the start of the 21st century 15 years ago, there was great concern about China and its effect on the furniture industry in the U.S. Industry leaders predicted - and even participated in - the outsourcing of jobs to China and elsewhere in Asia, where companies could find cheaper labor and fewer regulations. For many, shifting labor and materials overseas cut costs and boosted profits.
