Deputy Simulations Officer SWARM J2646 Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, CNES and EUMETSAT. Key objectives of this position include We are looking for a degree educated Engineer to support the prime Simulations Officer in the delivery of training. This includes assistance with simulator breakpoint preparation, testing of contigencies, writing briefing and debriefing messages and running simulations. Responsibilities Duties Simulations Officers are responsible for developing the training concept and the associated Simulation Plan to train the Mission Control Team, in order to prepare them for the launch or other critical phases of an ESA mission. This includes planning and developing failure cases of increasing difficulty to be introduced into the simulations, in order to train the Mission Control Team in nonnominal operations and application of mission rules. Simulations Officers are also planned to be involved with the operational training of other staff, including but not limited to Ground Operations Managers and ESTRACK Control Centre ECC operators. The Simulations Officer role requires familiarisation with both the space and ground segment. Simulations Officers are also involved with general training and simulation activities at ESOC. Qualifications Experience Suitable candidates should have a University or similar degree in engineering or physics or similar discipline. Essential Skills Good spacecraft knowledge on a subsystem level Expeerence in working in an operational environment Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems Be fluent in English, both in speech and writing Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several tasks in parallel Familiarity with operational training Familiarity with operational simulators, ideally SimSat Familiarity with satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000 Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript Desirable Skills Secuirty Clearance in view of later projects Experience in operational training Familiarity with the ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS Knowledge of operations Experience with prelaunch activities and launch campaigns Experience in instructional design methodologies Qualities Selfstarter, able to work independently with little or no supervision Proactive and confident personality with good persuasive skills Teamplayer, able to interface with technical and management personnel Further Details The current position is for a deputy simulation officer on SWARM with a possible extension as a prime simulation officer on Galileo or Sentinels Closing Date for applications is 20 April 2013.
