Deutsche Telekom Q1 net profit quadruples, sales up 4.7%

2016-05-04 08:10:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom reported a four-fold increase in net profit for the quarter, to EUR 3.125 billion from EUR 787 million a year ago, thanks to a profit of EUR 2.5 billion on the sale of its stake in EE to BT. Adjusted EBITDA at the German operator rose by 12.9 percent to EUR 5.2 billion, and revenue was up 4.7 percent to EUR 17.6 billion, led by the strong performance of T-Mobile US. DT increased capital expenditure (excluding spectrum) 11.9 percent year-on-year to EUR 2.831 billion. The resulting higher depreciation and amortisation meant adjusted net profit, excluding the EE gain, was up just 1.1 percent. The increase in cash capex resulted in a moderate decline in free cash flow of 5 percent to 822 million euros. Deutsche Telekom confirmed its outlook for full-year results.
