Director, Corporate Development China Beijing China In this new position you will represent SES before partners, government and regulators in China, and initially mainly manage Corporate Development and Regulatory efforts for SES in the country. You are responsible for ensuring the longterm success and right to win of SES in China. Being the country expert, you act as an advisor to and extension of the Corporate Strategy and Development Organisation, Regulatory, the China Market Access team as well as the SES Video and SES Networks teams, and take responsibility for SESs longterm access to the Chinese market. In this role you must be comfortable working as part of a crossfunctional team with regular touch points to colleagues based in Singapore, Europe, and the U.S. In particular, you are responsible for developing deeper relationships with existing SES leads and in identifying new Chinese partners that will support SES in securing market entry into China. In addition and on the basis of a proven record of past success, you will actively support the execution of value accretive agreements and transactions in China as well as with Chinese entities for their growth outside of China. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Participate in the development of a coherent Corporate Development Strategy in China, and contribute to the execution of the resulting country strategic initiatives Leverage existing network of relationships with key Chinese partners that lead to the achievement of market access for SES satellites and solutions in China Generate new relationships to support mainstream revenue growth of SESs business in China and outside of China Generate incremental revenue opportunities with third parties through commercial spectrum deals entailing orbital rights to which SES has access Act as China subject matter expert, and provide support to Strategy, SES Video and Networks business units, MA, Business Innovation, Fleet, Asset Management and Spectrum and Legal as required Support regulatory and compliance efforts for SES and SES partner operations in China, in close collaboration with the Regulatory team Carry out SES advocacy activities in SESs name or through regional trade associations to defend and promote company policy objectives before China regulatory and policy making bodies Help identify political, legal, andor commercial issues and risks for management consideration in China and prepare highlevel risk mitigation strategies Support frequency coordination negotiations with Chinese satellite operators in close collaboration with the SES Spectrum team COMPETENCIES Excellent communicator able to develop and present points in an inspiring manner to a variety of internal and external senior audiences written and oral Collaborative individual, able to build relationships across all levels and functions of the organization and effectively manage conflicts Familiarity with or ability to acquire knowledge of the regulatory and institutional frameworks applicable to SESs activities in China Strong strategic skills, with the ability to choose the right course of action and make agile changes when needed Excellent negotiation skills and ability to maintain high level of legal risk mitigation for SES Execution orientation with the ability to deliver results despite a complex business environment Ability to manage time, set priorities and work independently in a demanding commercial and internationally oriented environment, with ability to work at distance time zone and geographically from other team members Capability to work in an organized manner with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy Proactive and independent attitude Must be a team player able to work across cultures in a diplomatic manner QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Chinese citizen Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English required University degree in a relevant field e.g. business, politics or law Relevant experience 510 years in the communications industry with a communications operator, satellite operator, Government agency or private entityies in the communications industry Experience of leading or supporting the successful market entry of a foreign public or private communications company into China Extensive network in the broader industry and at GovernmentInstitutions level in China Understanding of international legal and regulatory matters, including but not limited to market access, trade, ITU, antitrust in China Excellent understanding of political, legal and commercial context in China We offer you A diverse workplace.
