EUMETSAT is the European satellite agency for monitoring weather and climate. Bringing together the resources of 27 member states, we develop and operate a range of satellite systems surveying the atmosphere, land and ocean that deliver vital data 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. EUMETSAT is now embarking on a new and challenging development programme called EPSSecond Generation EPSSG, shaping the future of Europe in meteorology and climate monitoring, after the highly successful EPSMetop programme. Director of Programme Preparation and Development REF. VN1313 Reporting directly to the DirectorGeneral and serving as his deputy, you will manage a portfolio of complex, multibillion development programmes to establish our new operational satellite systems in the 2020 timeframe, and assist the DG on related interactions with Member States, ESA and industry leaders. As a member of the management board, you will also contribute to strategic decisionmaking at organisational level. Supported by large project teams, you will supervise mission definition and feasibility studies, detailed design, development, verification and validation of new endtoend satellite systems until handover to operations including major procurements and cooperation with ESA and other partners as well as the delivery of recurrent spacecraft and related support to our operations department. Alongside a relevant Engineering degree, you will bring a sound track record of managing the development of complex software intensive systems in the aerospace sector, within schedule, quality and cost constraints. Finally, you should be a skilled negotiator and relationship builder, and have fluency in English and a good command of French.
