An emergency veterinarian testified Tuesday that is what happened to two dogs that died after authorities say Griselda Martinez attempted to transport 11 crated dogs in a car without air conditioning from her Round Lake home to Streater on Aug. 16. Dr. Christina M. McCratic of at Golf Rose Animal Hospital in Schaumburg testified Palatine police brought 11 animals, most of them bull dogs and French bulldogs, to Golf Rose that evening suffering from heatstroke after authorities say they had been kept in a car for hours. "They were in essence suffocating," said McCratic, adding that most of the animals had very high body temperatures, which is especially dangerous for those breeds.
