(Telecompaper) The European Commission has sent questionnaires to a number of Google's rivals as part of its long-running investigation into Google's business practices. The new EU competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager said there was a need to update information in the case. The questionnaires covered online mapping and travel services, among other topics, said Vestager, adding that she would be arranging meetings with complainants in the coming weeks. "To have a case that is actual and true to the time we live in, I found that it was important to get new information in the file," said Vestager. The EC has been investigating Google since 2010, after a number of industry complaints accused the company of promoting its own services over others in its search results and not providing equal access to its search platform. Vestager has come under pressure to take a decision in the case after the European Parliament passed a non-binding resolution last month calling on her to consider breaking up the company.
