Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of Software Control SystemsEngineeringSWC. Overview The contractor will support ESA project teams in activities related to ground software systems for the science ground segment, specifically data processing. Supporting the procurement, development and utilisation of EGSE for space systems, subsystems and instruments, including preparation of requirement specifications, monitoring of industrial activities, acceptance of industrial products and participation in project reviews. Supporting RD studies and Standardization activities in the EGSE domain. Supporting the maintenance and future developments of the EGSE Reference Facility to support prototyping of new technology, standards validation and evaluation of industrial methods and tools. The contractor will be assigned to the Ground Software Systems and Functional Verification Section of the Software Systems Division and provide on demand expertise in activities related to EGSE systems Project support for Ground Software Systems, such as the EarthCare Operational Scientific Ground Segment development, Level 0, 1 and 2data processing, visualisation. This includes generic software engineering,software development support, collaborative software developmentenvironment support, software acceptance compilation, installation,running tests. Project such as PLATO support on the procurement, development and utilisation of EGSE systems, including problem solving, interfaces with external systems and project reviews. Support on RD studies, specifically related to the currently under development European Ground System Common Core EGSCC,which will be the basis of the future Electrical Ground Support EquipmentEGSE and Mission Control Systems MCS infrastructures in Europe. Maintenance and future developments of the EGSE Reference Facilityas part of the Software Systems Laboratory. This includes software buildsand integration of industrial elements to the EGSE reference facility aswell as the functional verification in endtoend scenarios, maintenance ofan EGSE software libraryconfiguration managementlab website,evaluation of needs and generation of requirements for enhancements. Support Standardization activities in the EGSE domain e.g. E7030 Monitoring and Control Data Definition, E7032 Test and OperationsLanguage, E7041 PUS, E1023 Space System Data Repository. Specific qualification requirements A university degree Msc or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline. Extensive practical experience of implementing and building complex software systems. Experiencein developing and utilizing EGSEs. Experience in in modelling monitoring and control data in compliance with the ESA monitoring and control systems legacy systems such as SCOS or future systems such as EGSCC. Knowledge of modern software engineering practices and standards applied to realtime systems. Knowledge of Space Systems and Space System Engineering is necessary. Basic knowledge of satellite AIT is cosidered an asset. In particular experience with one or more topics such as Knowledge of L0, L1, L2 data processing chains. SW development Java, Eclipse Service oriented and component based architectures OSGi, Karaf UnixLinux system administration and scripting Shell Configuration management and build of large SW projects Git, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, Gradle Object Oriented design methods and corresponding tools e.g. MagicDraw Databases Oracle, Postgres, Hadoop Understanding of Space Operations. SCOS 2000 and the SCOS 2000 MIB ICD Experience with the relevant ECSS standards particularly PUS and its tailoring. Ability to work independently and to establish good working relations with ESA and industrial counterparts is essential. Be able to read and prepare technical documentation. Good verbal and writtencommunications. Rigor, commitment and reliability in the execution of the assigned tasks. Proactive attitude to solving problems, identify priority actions and to handle high workload. Proficient in the English Language Spoken and Written. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line withESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
