U.S. EPA announced Wheeling Park High School freshman Miriam Terese Demasi as winner of 2014 Patrick H. Hurd Sustainability Award. Demonstrating commitment to environmental sustainability and stewardship, her project involved developing sustainable, affordable, and environmentally sound building material for earthquake-prone areas in developing world to use in place of adobe.
