EPA investigating ExxonMobil for understating Torrance refinery risk

The EPA has become the latest government agency to launch an investigation into the ExxonMobil Torrance Refinery. The environmental watchdog is investigating whether the company has deliberately understated the worst-case scenario for a disaster at the plant after secretly decreasing the amount of an additive put into highly-toxic hydrofluoric acid that makes it more dangerous than believed.
