This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. EPSSG Instrument Functional Chain Engineer 2013027 Job Description We are looking for an Instrument Functional Chain Engineer for our customer, EUMETSAT, to support the overall System Team for this mission. In particular, the IFCT Engineering Team is in charge of the management of endtoend aspects of the Instrument Functional Chains to ensure that the level 1 and level 2 products generated by the EPSSG System meet the requirements. Required Skills and Experience A university degree or equivalent in experience in a relevant discipline Between 1 and 3 years in the field of instrument data processing of complex space systems with experience in the field of engineering of space andor ground systems, in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites including endtoend data acquisition and processing verifying instrument data processing systems development of test data sets, test tools or instrument data processor prototypes specification of operational products for earth observation missions requirementsbased design, development and verification process of polar satellite systems following the ECSS standards and using DOORS Knowledge of relevant spaceborne observation instruments EPSSG satellites will embark sounders and imagers from the ultraviolet to the microwave range, a scatterometer and a radiooccultation instrument. Strong data analysis, processing and synthesis skills Able to fulfil the assigned tasks with minimum supervision, have a systematic approach to work, able to plan the work and cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks Capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation Good communication skills verbal and written Willing to provide consultancy to a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. Desirable Skills and Experience Proven experience in followup preparation of algorithms processing specification and associated test data, including maintenance of the baseline Knowledge of EPSSG instruments, specification of Instrument Source Packets and algorithms to process them up to level 1 product content and specification processing algorithms and specification system and operational processors design Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures Data analysis software packages and programmingscripting skills in other coding languages such as Python Java Perl etc. Familiarity with ModelBased Systems Engineering tools, specifically CORE 9 from Vitech Ability to recognise opportunities for improvements in areas of work and implement appropriate solutions Work Location Darmstadt, Germany Dates Application Deadline 30 November 2020 Start of Work March 2021 Important Notes Before applying to this position, please read the page Notes to Applicants on the Solenix website under Career.
