ESI shutters Massachusetts plant as Portland company restructures

Electro Scientific Industries Inc. will close an assembly plant and development center in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, as part of a corporate restructuring aimed at streamlining manufacturing and development. "This action will enable us to further focus our efforts on growing our business while consolidating manufacturing facilities and lowering our fixed cost base," said Edward Grady , ESI's president and CEO, in a release.
