EU spends $1.4 billion on flawed, but exciting, brain-in-a-box project

A man we will be hearing a bit more about in the future, Henry Markram, has just sold the European Union a brain in a box for 1 billion ($1.4 billion). The Human Brain Project will not create the equivalent of a mind in a box, but it will certainly generate new ideas, force consensus as to what canonical form actually comprises the anatomy of the brain, and drive the field forward.
