000 ABPZ20 KNHC 231744 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 1100 AM PDT Sun Aug 23 2020 For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude: An elongated area of low pressure located several hundred miles south of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula continues to produce a large area of disorganized cloudiness and thunderstorms. Conditions appear favorable for development, and a tropical depression is expected to form during the next couple of days while the system meanders or drifts northward a few hundred miles offshore the coast of southwestern Mexico. * Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent. Satellite images indicate that the circulation of a low pressure area which formed earlier this morning a couple of hundred miles south-southwest of the Gulf of Tehuantepec is becoming better defined. Conditions appear conducive for additional development of this system, and a tropical depression is likely to form by the middle of the week while it moves slowly northwestward, near or parallel to the southwestern coast of Mexico.
