The City of Edinburgh Council has awarded IT services company CGI Group a seven-year contract worth 186m to provide "transformational" outsourced ICT services in order to help the local authority make a shift to digital services. The council is aiming to make cost savings of 45m over the seven-year period, and CGI claims that it will create over 200 new jobs and more than 60 openings for apprenticeships as a result of the deal.
