Electromagnetic Compatibility EMC and Antennae Test Group Leader Space Industry Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire Salary 48,202 61,592 plus excellent benefits Full time About Us The Science and Technology Facilities Councils STFC RAL Space department carries out an exciting range of worldclass space research and cuttingedge technology development. Weve had significant involvement in over 200 space missions and operate at the very forefront of UK Space Research. RAL Space was recently awarded 99m from the UK Government to develop the National Satellite Test Facility NSTF, which is now in the early construction phase. This stateoftheart facility will provide a world class set of colocated facilities for the assembly, integration and testing of space payloads and satellites. Once completed, the NSTF will have the capability to conduct Vibration, Acoustic, Thermal, Pyroshock, Electromagnetic Compatibility EMC and antennae testing for payloads up to 7 tonnes within clean room conditions. This significant new investment adds to the existing facilities operated by RAL Space department, part of STFC, within UK Research and Innovation UKRI. About The Role As a result of the NSTF project, we now have a fantastic new opportunity for an Electromagnetic Compatibility EMC and Antennae Test Group Leader to join us to take the lead on the operation of the planned Electromagnetic compatibility and Antennae testing facilities. You would be joining us from the early stages of the facility development which gives the unique opportunity to build and lead a team of test engineers and to shape the operation of the facilities and the test campaigns from the very beginning. Your role will be to hold overall technical responsibility for agreeing the test programme from bid stage onwards through to successful delivery. With the majority of the facilities to be expected to operate to ECSSQST2007C, the Group Leader will work closely with the RAL Space Quality function to ensure compliance through the lifetime of the facilities. A key part of this important role will be engaging with the users of the facility and the wider testing community to keep abreast of the latest technical developments and then championing and driving technical developments in the facility. About You If you have dedicated experience of operating test facilities either EMC or radio frequencyantennae measurement as well as previous experience of managing and providing technical leadership to medium sized teams in this field, then we would really like to hear from you. You may be educated to degree level or equivalent or you may have a vocational qualification. As well as experience in this area, its important to us is that you have excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence on a technical basis with a wide range of customers. A dedicated, selfmotivated and positive approach is key with the ability to motivate and empower others as this exciting new project moves forwards. Experience of working under defined quality assurance practices such ECSSQST2007C is highly desirable and if you already have significant experience of managing a test function of a similar scale and complexity, then get in touch!
