Electronic Systems Team Leader

This hands on team leader role will be based within the QinetiQ Space UK business, leading multidisciplinary technical teams in the development and delivery of spaceflight digital and RF electronics products and projects. Job Descripton Delivery of compliant and safe technical solutions in accordance with customer and business requirements, to time, cost and quality. Responsible for the definition and execution of effective design, development and verification plans of work from bid stage through to delivery typically from 50k to 5m Conduct independent engineering reviews of bids and projects Technically oversee and evaluate subcontracted elements of work Team leader for 8 to 12 engineers, responsible for sustaining and development of the technical capability and skills Mentor and support less experienced staff Support business development and sales activities Understand, interpret and implement requirements and specifications. Derive and manage subsystemassembly requirements Deliver bespoke technical solutions to exacting customer requirements. Undertake the most time and cost effective design and programme of work without compromising quality of safety. Occasional foreign travel to Europe may be required for project delivery. PERSONAL SPECIFICATION Essential Education, Qualifications and Training Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or technical discipline. Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required Experience in the design, development and verification of electronics systemequipment products for space flight applications or comparable engineering field is essential. Experience of leading teams of engineers and scientists. Able to work in a multinational environment Good written and verbal presentation skills. Knowledge and application of stateofart electronics technology in space communications systems is highly desirable. Ability to work at all technical levels from system to component level design, equipment build and test. Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels within the organisation and externally with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. Knowledge of space industry standards and bestpractice would be a distinct advantage. Knowledge of space platform system architecture would be an advantage. Essential Personal Qualities and Behavioural Requirements Work constructively and proactively with colleagues and with customer supplier representatives Offer flexibility in work location and hours. Problem solving innovative. Team worker. Effective communicator. Tenacious Desirable Criteria Prior experience of space programmes and ESA environment would be advantageous Experience of developing recurring commercial products would be advantageous Good knowledge of key Space customers such as ESA is desirable. Knowledge of ECSS standards would be beneficial. Membership of relevant professional body e.g. IET.
