Job Description ATG Europe is a partner in the Outernet project, aiming to provide worldwide free internet from space. For the development of a handheld receiver for this spacebased RF signal, we are currently looking to hire an Embedded Linux Software Engineer. In this position, youll be working in our office in Noordwijk, surrounded by a team of engineers engaged in a variety of innovative projects in the Space, Aviation and High Tech industries. You will be collaborating with Outernet colleagues in the United States and Serbia. For more information on the Outernet project, check www.outernet.is Tasks and Responsibilities Maintain drivers for various hardware utilized by Outernet network of receivers Port Outernet file receiver agent to target receiver hardware Create complete Linux software for target receiver hardware o Initial hardware bringup and debug, boot loader, kernel, drivers, file system, IO functions, system initialization maintenance, power management, uptime monitoring, application integration, networking, software update, theft prevention, remote device management, manufacturing tools Codevelop Android application with Outernet functionality Test softwarehardware implementations Develop custom streaming servers for Outernet content Manage network of streaming servers utilized in Outernet network Enhance Outernet distribution network to optimize connectivity around the limitations of transmission technologies Assist with supply chain management Create product specifications Technical review and design consultation for all new receiver hardware. Requirements Familiarity with DVBS broadcasting specification Interest in RF engineering Curiosity surrounding software defined radios Delivering product to market, from idea to finished good or application Amateur radio operator is a definite plus.
