TIC Energy & Chemical Inc., a processing and industrial contractor division of Colorado-based TIC, plans to close its operations in Freeport, affecting 500 employees, according to a letter to the Texas Workforce Commission . The company informed its employees on May 7, and the TWC received TIC Energy & Chemical's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letter on May 14. Tom Janssen, a spokesman for the company, said in an email the move is a "business decision to shift our operations away from maintenance, testing and small capital construction services and nothing to do with oil market."
