Engineer Mission Planning, Sentinel3 mf The Mission Our customer, EUMETSAT, will be managing routine phase flight operations for the Sentinel3 low earth orbiting satellites. The first Sentinel3 spacecraft is currently scheduled for launch in September 2015. The objectives of the Sentinel3 earth observation mission include measurement of seasurface topography, sea and landsurface temperature and ocean and landsurface colour in support of ocean forecasting and environmental monitoring. The Challenge We are looking for a Engineer to be located at our customers site in Darmstadt, Germany who will support our customer with mission planning for the Sentinel3 spacecraft. The Engineer will make use of the existing payload data ground segment mission planning facility and flight operations segment mission planning system, within a SCOS2000 based mission control system. The Engineer will contribute to the maintenance, validation and documentation of the mission planning operational implementation and application software in all mission phases. This operational implementation resides in relational databases and associated business rule management systems, and is used to generate schedules related to satellite payload and platform mission planning. Individual tasks include Generation of routine mission planning products Development of mediumterm operational planning in close cooperation with flight dynamics and spacecraft operations engineers Maintenance of mission planning tools, specification and validation of externallyprocured tools, upgrade of internal tools Testing of upgrades and new configurations Contribute to streamlining of the planning and commanding workflow This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in March April 2015. Your Qualifications Applicants shall have a university degree in aerospace engineering or other relevant discipline. Essential skills are 3 years experience of low earth orbiting spacecraft and ground segment system operations, preferably including use of SCOS2000 3 years experience of general programming software development, including at least 1 year of software development in Java or an equivalent e.g. Drools, JBoss Rules 2 years experience working with relational databases and SQL, preferably involving Oracle database administration English fluency, both verbal and written Desirable skills are A good understanding of general space mission constraints related to spacecraft, payload and ground segment subsystems Specific experience familiarity with the Sentinel3 spacecraft or alternatively, experience with similar earth observation missions Experience in a similar consultancy role, as a resident consultant operating onsite within a customer organisation Experience with an international satellite organisation or similar entity Terma offers At Terma, we consider skilled employees, enthusiasm and job satisfaction as the very foundation of our success and as a prerequisite for the development of the bestinclass solutions that Terma provides.
