Equipment failure halts production at Nucor plant in Louisiana

A Nucor Corp. plant in Louisiana has been shut down for more than a week, following an equipment failure at the site on Nov. 2. In a news release , the Charlotte-based steel manufacturer says it is still assessing the impact of what it calls "a major failure" of the process gas heater at the St. James Parish plant. No injuries or environmental harm occurred from the incident, the company says, and no other equipment was damaged at the direct reduced iron facility.
