Ericsson to Shut Down Modem Business From Former STMicro Venture

Ericsson AB, the largest maker of wireless networks, will shut down a chip business it took over from a former venture with STMicroelectronics NV. Talks with employees are underway over the decision to stop development of so-called LTE thin modems, which go into devices to let them connect to faster mobile-phone networks, Stockholm- based Ericsson said today.
