FTC starts probe into Google over Android - report

2015-09-25 14:30:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) US antitrust officials are looking in to whether Google stifled competitor access to its Android operating system, Bloomberg reported, citing anonymous sources familiar with the matter. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) reached an agreement with the Justice Department to start an investigation into Google's Android business. FTC officials then met technology company representatives who say Google gives priority to its own services on the Android platform. The inquiry is in its early stages, and could end without a case against the company. Spokesmen for the FTC and Google declined to comment.
