(Telecompaper) Facebook has unveiled a range of new service at its F8 developers conference, including chat bots for Messenger and more ways to show live and 360-degree video over the social network. The 'chat bots' are a simplified form of artificial intelligence, a key growth area for Facebook. The bots appear on Messenger to deliver automated and live messages from companies. Another new API is for Facebook Live; the company is opening up the code to developers to insert their own live streams on the network. As another way to immerse users, the group showed a camera system called Facebook Surround 360 that produces footage in 3D. The system includes stitching technology that brings together video from 17 cameras.
