Fed cattle demand boosts market for calves and feeders

Cattle prices finally bounced higher this week, buoyed by stronger cash fed cattle prices and gains in the futures market. Steers and heifers sold mostly $4-$8 per cwt higher, according to the Agricultural Marketing Services. There were plenty of instances of prices $10 higher, especially for preconditioned calves, but quality held sway, too. read more
