The Alamance-Burlington School System will put new, powerful wireless Internet infrastructure in 22 schools as soon as funding comes through. The $1.7 million project should cost ABSS nothing, said Angela Bost, ABSS assistant superintendent, since 80 percent will come directly from E-Rate, a federal program funded with telecom taxes paying for Internet connections for schools and libraries, and the other 20 percent from the federal Race to the Top funds the state has set aside for ABSS.
