When Chrysler announced that it would be offering a 3.0-liter turbodiesel in the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, some speculated whether General Motors might use these engines in some of its U.S. models, as it was a 50/50 partner in VM Motori, the maker of the engines, with Fiat.
