Fight over Mideast airline subsidies isn't cut and dry; feds power is limited, expert says

U.S. legacy carriers have legitimate complaints about the billions of dollars in government subsidies Emirates , Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways receive but it's unclear what the federal government can do about it, said Henry Harteveldt , a travel industry analyst with Atmosphere Research Group. American Airlines , Delta Air Lines and United Airlines have joined forces to oppose the three Mideast airlines' unlimited ability to compete at U.S. airports .
