Unlike insulation blankets that are used to contain heat of component they are covering, Fire Blankets are designed to protect equipment from fire damage. Oil/gas and petrochemical industries need to ensure that safety equipment, including safety valves and actuators, can function in event of fire. Goal of Fire Blankets is not necessarily to save equipment, but rather to protect equipment in emergency situations long enough for shut-down procedure to take place.
