This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. Flight Dynamics Orbit Determination 1923030 Job Description We are looking for a Flight Dynamics Engineer specializing in Orbit Determination and Prediction Products. You will work in a team primarily responsible for Orbit Determination, Prediction and Products Generation for Science Missions but which may also support activities for additional service, missions and activities within the scope of general Flight Dynamics operations engineering services. The teams main focus will be on the EXOMARS RSP, but may also include MARS Express, GAIA, JUICE, Solar Orbiter, EXOMARS TGO and EUCLID. The general activities to be supported are depending on the phase of the mission Orbit Determination, Prediction and Products Generation Execution of and support to operational tasks Processing of tracking data Determination and prediction of spacecraft orbital state Execution of and support to operational tasks Generation of orbit related products such as orbit event prediction and station acquisition data Flight Dynamics Application Layer Maintenance of elements of the Flight Dynamics Application Layer Flight Dynamics System Development Specification of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Implementation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Installation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements on operational platforms design, coordination and implementation of tests Participation in tests Setup procedures Flight Dynamics SubSystem configuration Coordination of internal and external interfaces and actitivities across subsystems General Flight Dynamics operations engineering activities Required Skills and Experience You should have demonstrated experience in operational Orbit Determination for interplanetaryplanetary probes. tools used at ESOC is of advantage. for Lagrangian missions. Knowledge in Mars atmosphere modelling, including, e.g. the Mars Global Reference Atmosphere Model MarsGRAM and the Mars Climate Database MCD. Practical experience in operational modelling of Martian atmosphere, relevant for the EDL of RSP experience gained on e.g. aerobraking operations at Mars are of advantage. Additionally, you will possess University degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics or physics Skills to apply their knowledge to develop solutions to technical mathematical and dynamical problems in cooperation with customers and other experts Ability to define, implement, validate and operate software which applies the above solutions using e.g. Unix andor Linux scripting languages, Fortran 77 andor 95, C Will to take operational responsibility in multidiscipline teams Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Ability to work independently Desirable Skills and Experience Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarityexperience with Flight Dynamics operations engineering tasks Experience dealing with external interfaces Experience with OracleSolaris andor Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously.
