Fuel Economy of New Vehicles Sets Record High

According to EPA's annual report that tracks average fuel economy of vehicles sold in the U.S., model year 2012 vehicles achieved all-time high fuel economy of 23.6 mpg, representing 1.2 mpg increase over previous year. Fuel economy has now increased in 7 of last 8 years. While EPA does not yet have final data for 2013, preliminary projections are that fuel economy will rise by 0.4 mpg, and carbon dioxide emissions will decrease by 6 grams/mile.
