Furniture-maker Steelcase beats profit forecast

Furniture and workspace systems company Steelcase Inc. said its first-quarter profit declined, hurt by lower revenue, especially in Europe, the Middle East and Africa--though adjusted profit rose in line with company estimates. The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based company saw its revenue improve in the Americas segment, which serves customers in the U.S., Canada and Latin America, rising 2.6% to $519.7 million.
