Gene McCarthy, former Nike executive, named Asics America chief

Gene McCarthy, who worked 21 years for Nike in sales and management, has been named Asics America group president and chief executive, the company announced Wednesday. McCarthy, who was at Nike from 1982 to 2003, joins the company Oct. 1. He replaces Kevin Wulff, who is retiring at the end of this year.
