German regulator approves vectoring deployment

2013-08-29 20:01:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) The German network regulator BNA has published the definitive decision for the introduction of vectoring on Telekom Deutschland's (V)DSL network. The decision enables Telekom Deutschland to deploy vectoring technology in its (V)DSL network offering much higher broadband speeds and was met with approval from the European Commission. As vectoring can only be deployed in the so-called serving area interface or street cabinets and is incompatible with LLU (local loop unbundling), Telekom has to offer access to the vectoring service via special bitstream services to its competitors to ensure a level playing field. At the same time, Telekom Deutschland has to change all standard contracts for LLU and provide a standard contract for vectoring-based bistream access to BNA, which has to approved the contracts before vectoring can be deployed.
